Guy -Hijacks are fine, I'm pretty good at that
I realise that acrylic and celly are different, I've been painting for half a century, but I think what you call celly there is what we call acrylic here.
We have enamel and acrylic, there used to be one called duco but that's morphed into acrylic now.
Enamel and 2k will go over acrylic but acrylic won't go over enamel and it won't go ove...

I don't want to hijack Willy's thread here, but I have been looking up paint suppliers advice on car paints. For using cellulose they frequently recommend using a clear lacquer top coat to get a good gloss finish. But surely this negates one of the main advantages of cellulose in that one can do repairs and blow in to match.

Once there is a lacquer finish that would then need cutting bac...

Do you know what 2 pack mixing scheme you have access too, Glasurit, PPG, Speis Hecker, Lechler etc are all common here and I have had no problem getting a couple of BMC colours produced so the formulas must be readily available in the UK.

As Guy said Acrylic is not similar to Cellulose, but here Acrylic can be water based and also solvent based plus two pack versions are produced in Italy.

Acrylic and celly in UK are not the same thing, Willy

    What is going on??

Yes Tim, thanks. A mixing system and prism gun are readily available to me ,but, I'm hoping that I can find someone that has a formula list with a brand that's available here as well. I can get the formulas for acrylic which I think you call celly over there but I need them for use with 2k tinters--I can get some early BMC colours that have been matched up to early leaded paints and also get colou...

That seems to be the standard one now.

You don't need to go as expensive as a geared - as good as those are are. Modern lightweights crank faster, take less current and are faster than the originals and quite a bit cheaper - £70 vs £100 last time I looked. Some don't have the bypass contact for the coil boost on rubber bumper (some geared don't have that either) although with the higher performance its less of an issue.

Cheers Dave, looks good and pretty local and their postage fees are not bad either.
